Competition Entry | Shortlisted project New landmark in Shenzhen is on the meeting point between the nation and the world beyond. We see the position Shenzhen as a diverse and coexisting collection of the whole China and our take on the landmark is therefore a celebration of diversity. Thus we suggest something that celebrates diversity, difference and plentitude rather than symbolically wrapping it in to a single designed volume. We provide a vehicle to represent the changing identity that takes shape in a living culture. But we let the 3 beacons (mountains) remain as a constant and recognizable anchor in the tradition and place that gives the framework for how we meet the future. Our family of culturally diversified elements forms a silhouette, translated into 3 main beacons: - First beacon is the tallest and represents the entirety of china; its landscapes and nature. - Second beacon represents the diversity of cultures we meet in Shenzhen (seen as celebration of vertical public spaces) - Third beacon is the outreach to world beyond : an island vessel, belonging to peoples’ ideas, aspirations and dreams. In collaboration with CRAB lab
