Competition Entry THE CULTURAL CENTAR IS NOT PLACED IN THE SQUARE SO MUCH AS IT HOLDS IT. IT BECOMES THE CIVIC EDGE, A DELIBERATE FRONT THAT STABILIZES THE TOWN SQUARE WHILE REMAINING OPEN, PERMISSIVE, AND UNFINISHED IN SPIRIT. CULTURE IS PUSHED FORWARD - EXPOSED TO THE SQUARE - YET BUFFERED BY A GENEROUS PARK POCKET THAT SOFTENS, DELAYS, AND ENRICHES THE ENCOUNTER. THREE DECISIVE STROKES CHOREOGRAPH THE BUILDING’S PRESENCE. THE FIRST RADIATES OUTWARD TO ORGANIZE TROYKATA SQUARE AND ITS PARK AS A CONTINUOUS CIVIC FIELD, EXTENDING FROM AN ALREADY INSCRIBED INNER PERIMETER. THE SECOND TURNS TOWARD THE BABA GANKA PLATEAU, TIGHTENING INTO AN URBAN STREET FAÇADE - MORE DEFENSIVE, MORE PRECISE -SHIELDING THE INNER PARK FROM THE TRAFFIC AND NOISE OF THE ROUNDABOUT. THE THIRD STROKE ESTABLISHES TENSION BETWEEN TWO OPPOSING EDGES: A CLEAR PEDESTRIAN DRAW FROM ALEKSANDROVSKA STREET ON ONE SIDE, AND ON THE OTHER, A MEASURED URBAN FRAME THAT GIVES WEIGHT AND DIGNITY TO THE MONUMENT TO THE VICTIMS OF COMMUNISM.
