schematic design Rhizome House DIALOG WITH TERRAIN The Rhizome House is designed to create a seamless relationship between architecture and nature. Inspired by the organic growth of rhizomes, its non-linear, branching structure mirrors the natural contours of the sloping plot, allowing the house to emerge naturally from the terrain. This approach fosters a deep sense of place and harmony with the coastal setting, integrating the built environment with the landscape. Central to the design is the blurring of boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. Rooms extend into terraces, courtyards, and gardens, encouraging fluid movement and full engagement with the surroundings. Large glass facades and carefully positioned openings frame views of the sea and landscape, flooding interiors with natural light and providing uninterrupted visual connections to the gulf. By combining organic form, open layouts, and thoughtful integration with the terrain, the Rhizome House achieves a balance between architectural expression and the serene beauty of its coastal environment. Sub-Consultants: Bollinger+Grohmann - Structural Design, MMC & BIM Support Buro Happold - Sustainability, Geotechnical, MEP, Fire and Life Safety, Mobility Engram - Archviz
